A State of Emergency

We woke up Tuesday to this view in our backyard. The house we are renting is on an acre of land and it was gorgeous and peaceful having all of this area under a blanket of snow and left untouched. I know it doesn't look like much but there were over 700 schools and businesses that closed in the area and Gov. Perdue declared a state of emergency.

It didn't take Rylee long to get dressed and head out for sledding and snow ball fights with the other kids in the neighborhood. This is the most snow Rylee has seen (that she can remember) so she was very excited!

After the governor declared a state of emergency, Rylan finally got to come home from class.
So, Rylee headed back out for round two with her daddy!

They started building a snowman together. It was a little tricky because the snow didn't stick together very well. Rylan told Rylee that her job was the head. The lump pictured below is Rylee's head, which needless to say, ended up about five feet away from the finished product. Soon Rylee announced that her hands were freezing and that she had had enough. When Rylan started to come inside after her (the snowman still incomplete) Rylee said, "No Dad, you have to finish the snowman". He replied, "Rylee I was only building the snowman for you". And she responded " I know, that's why you have to finish it".

So out goes Rylan again to finish what I think is a darling snowman. When he was all done, we called in the house to Rylee to come back outside and take a picture with Daddy and
"Wendel" the snowman...
...all we got was a thumbs up from inside the kitchen window!
What a kid!

What a cute snowman! So funny that she made him stay out there to finish it. Daddies are tough right?

It appears that Rylee has her dad well trained. Actually I probably would have been there getting cold with you. Wendel is cute. You have enough snow to make a Wendy for Wendel. It rained here today and did nothing to break up a bad inversion. Interesting weather.

Dad forgot to mention how much I like your new background. We are going to have to get a hold of one of you experts to help us to get a look similar for our blog. I really love the colors.
